well... Ottawa is filling up on Buffalo players.... lol
The Ottawa Senators made their first move since the free agency period began, signing left wing Denis Hamel to a multi-year contract Saturday.
Glad someone signed him... I liked him.... He scored his 1st NHL goal, on his 1st shift... I saw that game hahah Danny Gare interviewed him after, and said all the other guys who did that too, and how cool that is and stuff... And then that awful game where he tore his ACL.... yeah, lots of Hamel memories... hahah

once again, on the 4th of July, I went to Canada... hehe Last year, we went to the Butterfly place and this year it was Ikea...
So yeah, I kea is sill way cool, but they were out of everything we wanted!! Cool table, $100 off (and therefore now afordable lol) was gone of course, and then our "backup plan" was gone too... also, couldnt find the chairs we wanted to go with it either... lol Sara did find a cool area rug, and it looks great in the living room. I got a new set of pots/pans with lids (my b-day present from Sara, since I used my gift certificate on it hehe) a flower print and some pot holders. haha I was expecting to spend a lot more money, so I got off pretty easy with only $15!
Surprisingly, the boarder wasnt bad either... just had to wait a bit on the way home, but they asked us like 2 questions....
Then I want over to my Mom's for her little bbq... I missed dinner, but I wasnt hungry anyway - it's too hot out. Hung out with the grandparents til they went home at 830, and Amy was in her room already, so Mom & I cleaned up and sat on the porch till 1130... It was a beautiful night, and we saw some fireworks people were setting off in the parking lot nearby... and we heard them from everywhere else.
Today I have to work 2-6, then get Danielle and head over to Eric's party... see ya later :O)

Darcy Regier is delivering on his promise to rebuild the Buffalo Sabres.
A week after acquiring a power-play point man in Andy Delmore, the Sabres general manager landed a top-line center in Chris Drury after completing a four-player, three-team trade Thursday involving Calgary and Colorado. .... In landing Drury, noted for his scoring and leadership qualities, the Sabres traded defenseman Rhett Warrener and center Steve Reinprecht to Calgary. Buffalo acquired Reinprecht earlier in the day from Colorado for defenseman Keith Ballard, the Sabres first-round pick in the 2002 draft....
...Warrener was one of the Sabres' top defensive defenseman in four-plus seasons in Buffalo. He had nine assists in 50 games last season, averaging 18 minutes per game.
Warrener, who broke into the NHL with Florida in the 1995-96 season, was visiting his brother in Calgary when he learned about the deal.
"The phone rang and Darcy said `We traded you to Calgary,''' Warrener said. My first words were, `Well, I'm already here.'''
Warrener is excited about joining the Flames since he grew up in Saskatchewan, which borders the province of Alberta.
"You're going to have a tough time taking the smile off my face for a long time,'' he said.
Well, damn it... your gonna have a tough time seeing a smile on my face for a long time.... (when talking about hockey anyway :OP) BLAH
But I guess if he had to get traded, I'm glad its there and he's happy.... I've been worried about this for a long time... and now its happened... I'm not picking a favorite player anymore... I cant now anyway, unless we get someone just absolutely fabulous :OP... I'll just have to be content with having a favorite team, without a favorite player .... and damnit... now I have to pay attention to 3 teams!!
*Insert girly rant here* - I hate the business of sports... I'm too damn emotional for this... I get attached to players, and am mad when they get traded. I know its a business, but I hate it. Stupid "rebuilding".. so we have to get rid of all the good ones... how does that make the team better?! GRRRR *End girly rant here*
So yeah... whatever... they better do a gazillion times better this season, or I'm gonna be one really really upset fan....
I was gonna post other stuff today... recap the week or whatever... but I cant now... that pretty much sums it up :OP I dont have a job anymore (except BBW) so next week will be "interesting" ... we'll see what this weekend brings... but it sure isnt starting out good...

The Buffalo Sabres announced Monday they have extended qualifying offers to 14 players, including defenseman Dmitri Kalinin and winger Ales Kotalik.
The Sabres also gave offers to forwards Eric Boulton, Curtis Brown, Tim Connolly, Jaroslav Kristek, Norm Milley, Andrew Peters, Taylor Pyatt and defensemen Rory Fitzpatrick, Adam Mair, Jay McKee, Henrik Tallinder and Rhett Warrener. The Sabres also picked up the option on defenseman Brian Campbell's contract.

Red Wings exercise contract option on Hasek... The Czech goaltender played as a forward in the Czech Inline Hockey League last season. He was recently suspended for one year after a high-sticking incident which landed an opponent in the hospital.
