A debate almost as long as what way the toilet paper roll should roll.
History: Throughout time the debate has raged on, are carbonated flavoured beverages called POP or SODA?? I lived in a POP area of the world, and recently moved to a SODA area of the world. All my life I've said POP, in my opinion it's POP, and always will be POP. But a few people have tried to change me, and with support of my POP friends we have begun the conversion.
Pop People: Pop people claim that it's pop because soda's are ice cream and carbonated water. If you ordered a soda in a ice cream shop, when you meant pop, you'd get ice cream and carbonated water.
When asked why we Pop people call it pop, a friend answered enthusiastically, " Cuz that's what its called!"
Another answered, "Because it pops in your mouth, that's why it's called pop!"
EXACTLY!
Soda People: I don't know why they call it soda.....
When asked why a Soda person calls it soda, they replied, "Pop is so preppy, and everyone in my family calls it soda!"
Another one said, "I don't know!"
I got this in an email "Pop is a SOUND and soda is a BEVERAGE. :) also, carbonated water is often called soda water, seltzer, etc. they may not all be the same thing but definitely in the same family."
So what do you call the bubbly delicious substance we so love to drink? Is it POP or SODA? Vote now!
