November 25, 2001 - a few things

- i apologize for neglecting this site. there are some reasons. i intended this site and in particular the news section to only be presenting the truth and things that have been confirmed. so as far as the rumors that are around regarding the comings and goings of band members, i didn't want to post them unless they were confirmed. i have heard no news regarding any of this from any official source. If/when I do, it will be posted

- i have not been able to actively search out any news on the band personally. lack of time and resources have contributed to this. i hate bulletin boards so i don't frequent the sunna board to find out any rumors or information. if there is someone who'd like to assist me in the collection of news on Sunna please contact me: email

- According to Ralph from Overdose Sunna have finished recording their 2nd album. I'm not sure where this information is from, so I'm not sure if that is true or not. There are also rumors that Sunna have switched record lables, and if that is true, I no longer have an official contact at the record company to confirm news for me....such is life

- i hope all is well with everyone who visits the site. and thank you for continuing to support the band and this website.

July 23, 2001 - update on Richie from richiemills.com

Richie will be appearing as stand-in drummer for brit noise merchants EARTHTONE9 after the departure of Simon Hutchby. appearing on the last 2 gigs on their campaign for their third album ARC TAN GENT, you can catch them at the following venues:

24th July - ITALY - Turin - (some large venue).
11th August - ENGLAND - Nottingham - Rock City.
More info at www.earthtone9.com
Sorry about the short notice, but it was a sudden decision of extraordinary magnitude.

also, Richie's own project, still un-named, is coming on well.
Quite alot of material to work on now, with a number of labels sniffing around.
He says he's quite excited about 2 songs he's been working on over the last week or so. An inside source tells us that it sounding along the
FOOS/PUMPKINS/DEFTONES vein. No information about when any samples will be up on the net, but hopefully will coincide with the launch of the website.
STAY TUNED!!!

On behalf of Mills.......

*personal comment* foos/pumpkins/deftones? interesting. I'm going to keep updating site with Richie info, since he was in Sunna. Just so you know.

June 28, 2001 (my birthday) - from Richie: hey guys. long time no speak. getting my shit together regarding my own stuff now. written
a few songs, drove a few trucks, you know the score. working on the site right now. the i see some of you have already visited www.richiemills.com. that's great!! i'll try and get it all sorted soon. me and OWEN from EARTHTONE9 have done some stuff too, but that is
also very much in the embryonic stage. keep in touch folks. it's always good to hear from you. P.S. i have NOT joined VEX RED!! me and the boys had a knock-about, but no future work together i'm afraid. check them out at www.vexred.com. they're awesome!! speak soon.

June 24, 2001 - I've been having a bit of a moral dilemma lately, which is why I haven't updated the news page regarding Richie's departure from Sunna. Without getting into it too much, I just felt strange about posting what Richie told me about leaving the band (nothing bad, don't worry). I just felt as if posting what he told me would be wrong, I don't know why. But then I figured, he knows I run this site, he knows why I'm asking him, so he must realize what he tells me will probably go up on this site in some form. So...

Sunna can still be contacted at band@sunna.co.uk and Richie at info@richiemills.com

No news on a new drummer for Sunna, but apparantly they are going ahead with work on a new album.

No plans for Richie. Might do a solo record, might join another band.

June 4, 2001- The rumors are true, Richie Mills has left Sunna.

From Richie:

hi guys. thought i'd stop by as i was told there was alot of talk about me and
SUNNA. well, i have to tell you that it is true about my departure. all i can say is
that it is dowm to plain old personal differences, which led me to leave the day
after the last UK tour finished. i'm sorry for the hassle i have caused to both the
rest of the band, and you guys for doing this. i'm sure alot of you, including me,
would have enjoyed SUNNA at the festivals this year. i wish SUNNA the best of
luck in the future and hope that one day they may forgive me for my action. it was
a hard decision to make, and an easy one at the same time. i had much fun over
the last 9 months of the world tour and hope that all of the lovely folk that i met on
the way will keep in touch (new email address at the top of this). i'm not sure what
is on the immediate horizon for me, but i promise to let you know in the near
future. once again, i thank you and the band for a great time. you are the
champions.

Richie can still be contacted at info@richiemills.com.

According to my contact at Astralwerks, Sunna will be canceling their festival dates and concentrating on their new record without Richie. Any additional info will be added.

May 14, 2001 - Sunna is featured on an Italian music site www.pranxter.it. It's in Italian, so I don't know what it says, but check it out anyway.

info from Dharmaboy

May 9, 2001 - Sunna were on BBC Radio yesterday (May 8) evening. Not sure if this was a repeat performance or a new live show, as I wasn't aware of it happening, and wasn't home when a message was left for me about it. Any info appreciated.

April 21, 2001 - Richie got back to me about his side project. This is what he had to say: "well, i had a jam with a couple of the guys from earthtone9, but there's nothing concrete about it at the moment. owen, their guitarist, and i, have been long time friends for about 12 or so years. in fact we started our first band together all that time ago when we first met. he called me up during some time off. like i said, we had a knockabout recently with a few ideas he had. sounds real good. not really close to the SUNNA sound. sounds a bit more tool-esque. a bit more red-necky in places!!"

April 20, 2001 - Richie Mills is in a side project. The band is called Standing Dead Centre, and it includes Oz (guitar - earthtone9), Ishmael Lewis (Liberty37) on vocals, and Richie on drums. 2 mp3 demos are available on http://www.earthtone9.com/. Richie was also in a band with members of earthtone9 called Warpspasm and later Blastcage. That's all the info I could find.

info from eric, www.earthtone9.com, and the earthtone9 faq

April 15, 2001 - Sunna is on a compilation CD called "the album". No info about what track is featured on it.
