Sunna 6th March
venue- Nottingham rock-city
When I arrived at the gig it was very quiet compared to usual and not half as busy as ive seen it before. This surprised me considering the amount of good praise that Sunna have been getting in Kerrang. I was late and so missed crackout but the people there informed me they were v.good.
I was there for Miocene and they reminded me of Korn and whipped the 50 odd people in to a mini frenzy. Once they left I pushed my way to the front and waited for Jon Harris to make an appearance. Richie had been on the drums for about 5 minutes before the rest of the band came on.
Sunna started with the latest single I'm not trading. This was a good choice as it really got the atmosphere going. Jon then commented on the setup of Rock City. Because there was a 2 foot gap between the stage and the front. Jon had just recovered from a cold and had a sore throat so his singing wasn't the best. They followed up with 2 slow songs, Grape and my personal favourite O.D. The next was Power struggle were Jon really got the crowd going by climbing on the barriers and shaking hands with the crowd. Ian MacLaren was banging out the chords as well as Shane on the bass. The following tunes couldn't match the atmosphere achieved by power struggle. They ended on a rather bizzare choice of one conditioning which really chilled the crowd out.
The band were great and Jon really communicates with the crowd. Shane also gave me his plectrum and a playlist which is why I remember most of the songs.
